Guanajuato
In our travels we are developing this odd trend. We tend to go to places immediately after their largest celebrations. Earlier this year we went to Taiwan a day after Chinese New Year -- this time it was Mexico a couple days after Día de los Muertos. Fortunately for us, the celebrations aren't just one day affairs.
To say that Guanajuato is the most colorful place I've ever been is stating the obvious. Overlay Día de los Muertos on top of the architectural variety and colors and you have something truly special. We visited León, Guanajuato City and San Miguel de Allende on our trip. Each city was similar in some ways and different in others. With architecture dating back to the 1500s, it truly is a unique experience for the Americas.
